My Take On Vista.........

As you know i usually try to concentrate on Linux when it comes to this site but i just had to make my opinions known about Microsofts flagship operating system Vista,i downloaded the beta 2 when it became available, made space for it on my laptop, which comes in just above the lower limit of the recommended requirements that i needed to run Vista, and i installed it,which as you know takes forever,LOL.

My first impression of Vista was impressive, but as i soon found out that it was incredibly slow compared to XP,the top reason for that was Aero which is the new theme that windows ships with, alot of eye candy maybe to much.

Vista also nags the living hell outta you with its new system protection scheme which asks you repeatedly if you want to allow programs and such to run or not,i guess they are trying to save me from myself lol.......

And if you are comfortable running XP,forget it Vista is nothing like XP or any other Windows version for that matter, all the common settings people are used to are now either hidden or you need to dig around with alot of tabs and pages, not very user friendly.....

On the upside Vista shipped with a stripped down version of Media Center(which surprised the heck outta me)if you have a pc with a supported tv capture card and fm radio you are set...

If i had to rate Vista,i would rate it low on the must have list.

#1-Its going to be way to pricey, last i heard it was gonna be around 500 bucks
#2-Hardware requirements are gonna be outta reach for most of the people with older
computers,64 bit cpu's...at least 256 mb video memory....and at least 1 gig of memory.

Until Microsoft is ready to ship the final version, these requirements and price are still up in the air so who knows.if it was me i would say the heck with it and stay with XP for awhile.
